The Factory
The Factory brings an old flour mill back to life as a space for work and gathering. Keeping the essence of the place is as ambitious as it is compelling: the old flour tunnels are now part of the soul of the new uses, preserving the identity of such a distinctive building.
The proposal is organised around a central shed for the most public, gathering uses, from which both offices and workshops emerge. Access from the street and the connection between sheds happen through small transparent volumes that create a spatial play of compression and decompression, heightening the sequence of the building.
